How to have each "page" (keyboard/drum pads/note grid) correspond to different VSTs when using MPE?

You see the Looper promo videos, and they use a different page for each instrument:

Is this only possible in Non-MPE mode, and using each instrument on a different channel?  It always looks like they're using MPE on each of these pages (with the slides etc, except for drums) but with MPE taking the full bandwidth of 16 MIDI channels, I think this wouldn't be possible?

Unless I'm wrong! I'd love to be wrong, of course :D

1 person has this question

did you figure it out how to setup it, please?

Here is my understanding would love it to be confirmed. First, there are 3 midi inputs (usb, midi a, midi b). I think you get 16 midi channels each. Assuming you use one midi input, on layout 1 you could enable mpe and choose how many of the 16 channels to use. So you can choose to only dedicate 4 channels to mpe on layout one (using 5 total to include the global channel 1 or 16). Then you would have 11 remaining for the other 7 layouts.

Hey Shaun yes! The MPE output is a separate I/O "lane" - apart from 16 channels of MIDI

The way I set it up in Logic or Ableton is as follows:

- Roli Equator synth (or whatever MPE enabled synth) -> Midi input ERAE MPE

- Moog bass -> Midi input channel 1 from Erae

- Prophet synth - Midi input 2 from Erae

etc. etc.

So each element is on its own midi channel, corresponding to the synth I wanna control.

To my understanding, you now have MPE + 16 channels, but I believe you can split MPE in lower and upper as well. Haven't checked that out
