Actually comming from the LinnStrument, where it is also small, not necessarily. It depends on the technique how you play. By rolling the finger, you get pretty fine adjustments as well. In a way I kind of like the current behaviour by moving upwards it isn't triggering a new note and only rfelcts the pitch jump.
But I agree, your proposal has also benefits. I could imagine to implement a choice how this should be handled. Your proposition as one of three. The others are the current behaviour and a third would be the LinnStruments behaviour, where it would not jump to the pitch of the next row, but simply stay at max...
For your proposal, it would be great to be able to define the distance for the max value in number of rows...

yes, I have started to use this technique as well. I think I can get used to it .
"I could imagine implementing a choice on how this should be handled."
that would be great.
I wish one could trigger new notes with both horizontal and vertical slides, that will probably come as my next Feature request.

In Keygrid when the keys are small the Y (Timber) is very short.
A more elegant solution is what ROLI Lightpad Block uses for its tiny "keys".
When the key of the ROLI Lightpad Block s pressed, the Y (Timber) is the whole height of the instrument pressure area.
