The Ableton Livepad doesn't work for me. Installed per the readme, and tried in Ableton 12 Lite and Beta. No joy.
More API implementation! make a full-screen API Zone 0 layout and go to https;//arty.fish/AW/api.html
[note: this may change rapidly...]

I don't see any "buttons" to change the layout. It's unclear from your description what to do. I can get the antialiased line drawing, and I can see the layout changes from the radio buttons, but I'm not sure how to change the mode. It just boots into the antialiased line drawing and I can't get it to make sound. Also, a bunch of your links are broken for the layout files for Erae editor.
Also, I try to load the api.emk file and it reverts back to my original layout no matter what I do. Is this a bug in ERAE Lab?
Here's a screenshot of the webapp:
Because the webapp is cobbled out of my other webapps, there's a gain slider that isn't hooked up to anything and patch saving/loading that isn't hooked up either.
If you want to save this API layout on the Erae here's the [confusing] workflow:
- Turn off the webapp, easily done by just reloading the page. You might not have to do that - I never did! But its API transactions might be interfering with Erae Lab's. Just a theory!
- start up Erae Lab
- pick a project on the Erae that you want to save it to and load it.
- pick a layout button you'd like to load it into
- download the api.emk file from the api webapp
- load it up in Erae Lab into the layout slot you want to save it in with the "folder with an L" button
- push it to the Erae . It should be there now in the right slot in the right project!
YOU'RE RIGHT! ERAE LAB Sends this push, but the device is ignoring it. This used to work.
Weirdly, if you hand-build this layout in ERAE Lab, it gets sent fine. This might be related to those memory card issues that occasionally pop up too. But it really is ignoring the API layout based layouts loaded from an .emk file! My guess is that some part of the Lab doesn't know about API zones yet.
Just make the layout by hand : an API zone (zone index 0) and 6 or 7 buttons (I haven't hooked up #7 yet)
that are program change buttons 1,2,3,4,5 and 6. That should show up even if the one you load from the emk file doesn't. Go figger!
- now save the project on the Erae. (whew).
- go set up those webapp menus and hit the start button.
That ought to work --- "It works for me" Only the projects with APIs seem to have trouble "pushing".
Awesome. I will check on all this, thanks for the detailed instructions. I DID manage to get the autoharp working, as well as the Gamelan. Fantastic work, Henry. Please keep at it! https://www.instagram.com/p/DLlXzwCORqX/
I hope the bug for API Zones loading from an .emk will work sometime. Can you fix the Sines project on your site? It leads to an empty link. I wonder if loading a whole project will actually push it to the Erae.
Can you say which link actually doesn't work - all the ones I hit seem to work for me.
From Siners: https://arty.fish/AW/siners.html
emk: https://arty.fish/MIDI/Erae2_data/sliders2.emk
Odd, the Siners link downloads as an .html file with .erproj before that. If I rename the file on MacOS I get an error opening it in Lab. I can't use the EMK's because of the aforementioned error.
Heh, there was a bad link in there! The html file is the siners webapp, the project is called sliders.eproj
https://arty.fish/MIDI/Erae2_data/sliders.erproj that project loads fine in EraeLab (no API) and you also get my hammered dulcimer layouts. and the spectral drawing layout. [ https://arty.fish/AW/spect.html is the webapp ]
Weird, now it downloads as an .XML file. Right clicking in Safari to "download linked file".
The next webapp I might make will be a kind of granular synth like my app Ellipsynth, but with some more twists. https://jhhl.net/iPhone/Ellipsynth/
Just download it, yes, these files are technically XML files with an .emproj suffix.. Not to get into the HTML weeds, this forum's software has no way to put the "download" tag in a links' specification. Just download it here from the siners webapp link, or just here:
Henry Lowengard
Nobody said anything, but a check for new firmware shows it was updated to V.1.0.9-bc934d88.
There's also a new EraeLab because the API is finally supported! Also Ableton clip stuff.

It fixes a number of other things, but I'm working on testing the now enabled API.
